Position
A steady one-day-a-week janitorial route in Port Hawkesbury. Training, equipment, and supplies are provided before your first shift.
Job Duties
What you'll be responsible for:
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming, with particular attention to corners, edges, baseboards, underneath mats, and other hard-to-reach areas.
- Gather, remove, and properly dispose of garbage and recycling from designated areas. Replace liners as required.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, countertops, mirrors, fixtures, and floors. Replenish soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and other supplies as required.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including door handles, push plates, light switches, railings, and other frequently touched areas.
- Dust and wipe furniture, ledges, windowsills, fixtures, and other surfaces as required.
- Clean entrance areas, interior glass, doors, and other designated common areas.
- Ensure all cleaning machines, tools, and equipment are properly cleaned and stored at the end of each shift.
- Follow recommended procedures for the proper use, handling, and dilution of chemical cleaners and cleaning products.
- Follow established operating procedures when using powered cleaning equipment to prevent injury and damage to floors, furnishings, or property.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of all electrical or propane-powered equipment to identify potential hazards, damage, or maintenance concerns before operation.
- Immediately report damaged or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, spills, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain janitorial closets and storage areas in a clean, neat, organized, and safe manner.
- Ensure cleaning products, chemicals, supplies, and equipment are properly labelled and stored after use.
- Monitor janitorial supplies and notify the appropriate supervisor when inventory is running low.
- Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, WHMIS procedures, and site-specific cleaning protocols.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Ensure assigned areas are left clean, orderly, and presentable at the completion of each shift.
